I lived in a co-op and this was a huge problem. The place was utterly filthy because people would shirk their assigned chores. The people with connections with the chore committee could get cushy jobs. My roommate literally did nothing and relied on the other guy assigned to his chore to do all of the work. Meanwhile, I deliberately took shitty cleaning jobs and slaved away for hours to get a solid centimeter of concentrated filth off the floors because it needed to be done. It was a microcosm of how the shittiest, most self absorbed and corrupt scumbags love communism and thrive under it. Hardworking people with some basic standards and an actual concern for fairness move away and rail against dirty commies.

The food committee was run by vegans who resented getting meat and only bought extremely expensive organic free-range chicken from farms where they probably had middle names and slept in bunk beds, so there were always food shortages. When meals were served, there was a mad rush and often there would be nothing left for the less aggressive people. However, if you had connections with the cooks, they would prepare a huge portion for you and save it. Some people wanted to vote on having lines to get food and making sure everyone took an equal portion, but a few influential people fought against this because, despite being vocally far left, they had no problem strongarming their way into getting extra food while other people got the scraps. These same people railed against race and sex-based privilege but came from rich California families and basically jet setted around the world engaging in leftist agitation and living off trust funds.
