I remember watching the DVD at 19 with the cover #1 Best American film of all time by the American film Institute.
When the credits rolled, I felt some kind of emptiness inside knowing I just watched what was considered by the elites of filmmaking the #1 movie in the world, but immediately followed by my first thought "Heh. Terminator 2 was better"
Nobody really thinks it's the best just the greatest in that it redefined cinema and set conventions used to this day. Terminator 2 is actually the best
I don’t get it either. Even if you ignore how influential it was on a technical level, it’s a really entertaining movie with a charming and compelling protagonist. It’s enjoyable even on a really shallow level

Imagining valuing the opinion of Rotten Tomatoes. They claimed the girl Ghostbusters was good.

And gave Chappelle a 0 or something because he dared to punch down. It's now at 35.

You don’t get it. Everyone has to unequivocally like what I like or I am devoid of value as a person.

Why are they all hating on Citizen Kane?

Idk, WatchMojo top 10 rankings seems more accurate 😌

The review shitting on it is 80 years old. Whoever wrote it is dead. Keep in mind when it came out it was pretty controversial.

That's not what I'm asking Lawlz. Why is everyone in the replies saying "as it should"?

Paddington 2 is no Citizen Kane, but it is the best family film made in the last 30 years.

Better than shrek?
6 preserved_fish 2021-04-28
Better than Shrek, though some of Pixar's top-shelf stuff—Wall-E, The Incredibles, etc—is probably at the same level.

Rotten tomatoes is trash, use IMDb
