Gamers have the memory of goldfish they bitch about some awful "feature" being implemented in a game the inevitable sequel turns that up to 11 yet they still end up preordering it only to bitch about how said feature that sucked in the first game is back even stronger in the sequel
To be fair the problem with the first game was entirely different. I got screwed because their third DLC update made many game modes and maps hang on the loading screen forever and they wouldn't load. When they couldn't fix it (it was probably a simple issue anyway) they tried to get me to buy battlefield 1 as a "solution."
That's not really the issue. What's happening is that dedicated gaming enthusiasts remember ever minor thing EA has done and don't buy their games anymore. On the off chance they make something that looks passable, it will be pirated. Nobody who enjoyed the original BattleFront series has given a second look at this game.
There's a huge audience of people who casually play games, though. The sort of people who will buy any major release just to play it. They bought the last one. They bought the Battlefields. They buy Call of Duty. They buy FIFA and Madden and Destiny and GTA. Whatever has hype.
Gamers are content to work through their backlog. There's enough good games from the 80's, 90's, and a few years on either side of those decades to keep them going for a long time. Only casuals need new releases because they can't handle actual gameplay.
Casuals are the cancer of the gaming industry. They indiscriminately prop up the worst business practices and make publishers think good games aren't profitable.
It's because you have to play like 40 hours to unlock a hero which means that standard multilayer content is locked. EA has responded saying that it gives a "sense of accomplishment" even though they let you get heroes instantly if you spend a lot of money on microtransactions. Basically they're saying "you've paid $100, now here's another $100 you have to spend if you want to access the content we advertised as being available at launch unless you want to spend 40 hours grinding"
No, it's literally hero characters with strategic use and unique abilities.
This doesn't even go into star cards (they're abilities for your soldier) which are designed so that there is an imbalance between early and late star cards, trying to get you to drop another £100 on loot crates
Are low level noobs forced to play against high level characters? Like, if I don't spend money and choose to grind do I have to play against someone that dropped a bunch of money and one hits me?
Pretty sure a couple are unlocked immediately but it's designed so that Vader can be bought with real money, giving you an advantage early on. It's more pay to win in the game
How ever the hell the player wants to? Not everybody tries to optimize the shit out of games. I have friends with hundreds of civ games, not ONCE have they tried to optimize shit. They play on normal difficulty and develop their Civ thematically, and have a ton of fun.
Videogames are meant to be enjoyed, for some that means honing mechanics, and climbing some kind of ranked latter, for others it means fulfilling a fantasy. Pattern recognition is only really needed for player optimization. I don't think that most people who are playing star wars battlefront really want to truly optimize gameplay, even IF there is a PVP element. If they wanted to be part of group one, they would largely be playing CS:GO, PUBG, Overwatch if they want to stick to shooters.
Wow, way to completely miss the point of what I said. From that, and the fact that you think that wall of text is something I’m actually going to read, I conclude that you are unspeakably crippled by your autism, and that you should either go outside or kill yourself. I don’t particularly care which.
We can see the checklist here. There’s big language, calling someone an autist, and meme arrows. I think we could probably guess the age of this person easily
Downvotes stop affecting karma at -15 or something. I was below 1000 karma and in the sub r/CatsStandingUp. I was downvoted for saying "Dog." to -300 but i didn't notice a big change.
I'm pretty sure they stop effect comment karma at 100, not 15. Back to the topic, I'm pretty sure EA isn't worried about the comment karma on their reddit account.
If you comment anything on that sub that isn't Cat. your comment will not be visible to anyone else. Try commenting something other than Cat. then opening the post in an incognito window. You won't see your comment there and if you view your profile in the incognito window the comment will be visible until you click context where it will disappear. Not sure how you can get downvoted for saying dog when nobody else would be able to see it.
Not to mention that just after this comment went up the same person who got banned 2 years ago and who totally doesn’t run said account making that comment made a tweet insulting anyone who had a grievance with the how the game was set up calling them “Armchair Developers”
Oh yeah I heard about that problem a month ago or something. I feel like if the admins would invest in their subreddits, that kind of thing wouldn't happen.
If I don't feel like doing it, I don't do it. I shitpost on reddit anyway. When I moderate, I don't have to message the mods to get a rule breaking post removed.
It just keeps going up, it's too bad I have no idea that I've never watched Star Wars and have no idea what Star Wars Battlefront is (probably a game I guess) to get all hot and bothered about it.
Well, for one, my family isn't super well off (cable and movie theaters are expensive), but also because they're pretty religious and don't have a good opinion on mainstream TV shows and movies in general. That stuff, in combination with my autism, made my childhood turn out pretty boring.
are fine to good lol, especially in V when they had an actual director. luke and obiwan are written almost shitty (thank god for editing) but they’re both played very convincingly; han and leia are fairly boring characters on paper but their actors lend a ton of humanity to em, and oz, williams and jones are great obv. emperor’s awesome in both sets
like it’s subjective, but there’s an objective advantage over the actors never looking like they know what they’re doing, what their characters want, or where they are
the storytelling
is actually really good lol. shit’s expertly edited, and after 50 rewrites spurred on by being questioned the final version actually has events play out in a way that makes sense to look at
now the story is fuckin caveman simplistic and has some holes, but it’s well-told lol
can’t think of any part of them
come on man, not even gonna consider the fx showcase angle? like it’s fine not to give a shit about spectacle, but do you just only watch crime dramas or something?
i disagree almost entirely but thats cool im not saying you cant like it
come on man, not even gonna consider the fx showcase angle?
ok fair enough ill concede this, when the originals came out the practical effects were pretty groundbreaking with all the ships flying around and stuff
but to me thats like saying wow transformers rules because look at the cgi
each to their own
but do you just only watch crime dramas or something?
i like most genres, i just dont get the hype tbh
feel the same way about stuff like game of thrones
There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.
I can't remember the last time I actually spent sixty dollars for a game, that just seems crazy to me now with steam sales the way they are. Even new games I can usually find cheaper on eBay.
It's insane how much PC games drop in price over time. I've seen Arkham City on sale for like five bucks.
I wait for a game to have a disastrous launch and then get patches that fix the problems. By then everyone has already decided the game sucks so they put it on sale. I got Battlefield 4 for something like $10 that way.
Only $60 dollar games I buy are nintendo games. I don’t regret spending that much for zelda or mario odyssey. I was more than happy to pay more for their DLC since you know... they were working on it as the game was released and not day 1 DLC
Same here, i may have spent AAA price on a few games (mainly brand new releases that i love to play), but mostly when it comes to my games i’ll wait for a sale.
I had a problem last year where my internet connection would slow down to the point it was unusable. I tried everything I could think of over several days to fix it. Finally I just start uninstalling everything. Once Battlefield 4 and Origin were gone, my connection was back instantly. I'm guessing it was a bug in the rootkit they use to detect cheaters. Whatever it was, I'm not buying any more shit from them.
From a few comments I've read people are basically desperate for a new Star Wars game and as much as they don't like it they need their fix
If everyone who intended to buy it on Reddit held off a few months atleast to hurt their sales it could prove a point....but I don't see that happening
Wow, I hope those filthy casuals never play DoTA or LoL, where not being told you are a worthless feeder is locked behind hundreds of hours of game time.
(implying the mid will ever stop being a salty prima-donna who fails to realise that the only constant factor in all the games they lost is themselves)
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand DoTA 2. The meta is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Nash equilibria most of the dynamics of match-ups will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also probability, which is deftly woven into the pseudo-random generator - priming crits is not merely another mechanic but a deep meta-commentary on the nature of luck and chnce. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these strats, to realise that they’re not just skillful - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike DoTA truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Pudge's existential catchphrase “FRESH MEAT!” which itself is a cryptic reference to the Butcher in Diablo. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Ice Frog's genius wit unfolds itself on their Twitch streams. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
wait so they can unlock anything if they just put in effort? haha we've reached a new age.
Videogamers are now too lazy to play their own video games themselves so they complain that it should be done for them.
I remember back in my day I had to play a videogame straight through to the end in one 4 hour sitting just to get beat by the impossibly difficult final boss and restart the game 25 times. That's why I'm so successful in life today.
Holy shit, I am so fucking sick of hearing about this. I'm content to just not buy it and move on with my life. Gamers on this site want it to be the most talked about game in history.

1 sceawian 2017-11-13

1 Kgb725 2017-11-13

1 bishlasagna 2017-11-13
You know a company is greedy when a full retail priced game includes what is essentially a Free 2 Play model. Fuck off with that shit, EA.

is actually really good lol. shit’s expertly edited, and after 50 rewrites spurred on by being questioned the final version actually has events play out in a way that makes sense to look at
now the story is fuckin caveman simplistic and has some holes, but it’s well-told lol
come on man, not even gonna consider the fx showcase angle? like it’s fine not to give a shit about spectacle, but do you just only watch crime dramas or something?
1 captainpriapism 2017-11-13
i disagree almost entirely but thats cool im not saying you cant like it
ok fair enough ill concede this, when the originals came out the practical effects were pretty groundbreaking with all the ships flying around and stuff
but to me thats like saying wow transformers rules because look at the cgi
each to their own
i like most genres, i just dont get the hype tbh
feel the same way about stuff like game of thrones
1 grungebot5000 2017-11-13
nah it’s like saying “wow *titianic * rules because look at the cgi”
cuz the cg in transformers is not good lol, it’s very indistinct and muddled
1 grungebot5000 2017-11-13
wait, just how bad do you understand the prequels to be

Can't wait to see it sell well anyways despite the fact it's garbage and reddit hates it.

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.
1 MasterLawlz 2017-11-13
I can't remember the last time I actually spent sixty dollars for a game, that just seems crazy to me now with steam sales the way they are. Even new games I can usually find cheaper on eBay.
It's insane how much PC games drop in price over time. I've seen Arkham City on sale for like five bucks.
1 Redactor0 2017-11-13
I wait for a game to have a disastrous launch and then get patches that fix the problems. By then everyone has already decided the game sucks so they put it on sale. I got Battlefield 4 for something like $10 that way.
1 Demeris 2017-11-13
Only $60 dollar games I buy are nintendo games. I don’t regret spending that much for zelda or mario odyssey. I was more than happy to pay more for their DLC since you know... they were working on it as the game was released and not day 1 DLC
1 grungebot5000 2017-11-13
/r/patientgamers
1 mlgattracing 2017-11-13
Same here, i may have spent AAA price on a few games (mainly brand new releases that i love to play), but mostly when it comes to my games i’ll wait for a sale.
1 FulfilledOxyuranus 2017-11-13
People still buy EA games?
People actually use Origin?
Are you fucking stupid?
1 Redactor0 2017-11-13
I had a problem last year where my internet connection would slow down to the point it was unusable. I tried everything I could think of over several days to fix it. Finally I just start uninstalling everything. Once Battlefield 4 and Origin were gone, my connection was back instantly. I'm guessing it was a bug in the rootkit they use to detect cheaters. Whatever it was, I'm not buying any more shit from them.
1 Dextro420x 2017-11-13

1 FedaykinShallowGrave 2017-11-13

1 instakoking123 2017-11-13
From a few comments I've read people are basically desperate for a new Star Wars game and as much as they don't like it they need their fix
If everyone who intended to buy it on Reddit held off a few months atleast to hurt their sales it could prove a point....but I don't see that happening
1 glmox 2017-11-13
holy shit lmao
1 wisty 2017-11-13
Wow, I hope those filthy casuals never play DoTA or LoL, where not being told you are a worthless feeder is locked behind hundreds of hours of game time.
(implying the mid will ever stop being a salty prima-donna who fails to realise that the only constant factor in all the games they lost is themselves)
1 ragazzo_soup 2017-11-13
DoTA and LoL are free games.
1 im-a-koala 2017-11-13
Also, doesn't dota2 give you access to all heroes from the start? Or are they the same as lol with some dumb grinding component?
1 DAM1313 2017-11-13
It's all free
1 old_grumpy_grandpa 2017-11-13
Free games, also implying you ever stop being told you are a worthless feeder, also implying they aren't cancer in their own way.
1 UpvoteIfYouDare 2017-11-13
You get all of DotA2's content upfront for free and you will always be a worthless feeder.
1 wisty 2017-11-13
Found the Dotard.

> be dotard

1 wisty 2017-11-13
1 ReverieMetherlence 2017-11-13
-100k soon! Only 12k+ downvotes to go.
Sadly it will change nothing because your average pleb will still buy every EA game.
1 _Sitty_Shoonerism_ 2017-11-13
wait so they can unlock anything if they just put in effort? haha we've reached a new age.
1 old_grumpy_grandpa 2017-11-13

naive enough to think half a million people equals a rough consensus, or naive enough to think an EA rep would actually read their comment
1 ghostchamber 2017-11-13
Holy shit, I am so fucking sick of hearing about this. I'm content to just not buy it and move on with my life. Gamers on this site want it to be the most talked about game in history.
1 emotionally_tipsy 2017-11-13
Looool it literally happened less than a day ago

the fans, obviously. it’s an ensurance attempt for extra availability of early access.
1 UmmahSultan 2017-11-13
Forcing players to play the game to unlock content: OK
Forcing players to buy additional DLC to unlock content: OK
Giving players the choice between these two options: REEEEEEE
1 hlary 2017-11-13
Farmville must be peak pro consumer then
1 UmmahSultan 2017-11-13
Sounds like something you should take into account before buying the game.
1 hlary 2017-11-13
it a good thing i didn't buy the game then?
1 captainpriapism 2017-11-13
lol why are people even angry at this
you used to have to finish games to unlock characters
then they started doing "give us $2 and well give you the character"
people bitched for years "give us characters to unlock again!"
ea like "ok" and people bitch even harder
fucking nerds
1 Sai22 2017-11-13
