Most of our locked threads are due to an influx of people coming in and just being either subtly anti-black or just outright. Anytime there's a post about Trump, BLM, any police shooting, or a general social/political problem black people face, these types of people come out the wood work.
Those who manage to not get caught will stick around and comment every now and then because the posts are enjoyable and its easy karma. They'll become somewhat regular users, then the next triggering post makes its rounds, and its as if they were sleeper agents.
People often complain about how the sub pretends to be black, but then do a 180 when posts about white people come up, but its really just a mix of /r/all/r/popular crowds. Non-mods can't tell the difference between users, but as a mod i can easily see a user's post history on our sub. Generally the top 5-10 posts on our front page have most likely been on /r/all or /r/popular, so its usually those top 5-10 posts which may seem like a shit show.
Most of our regular users understand, but its the rest of Reddit that doesn't and it seems like they all feel the need to be right and everyone else is wrong. The sub becomes pretty disheartening to a lot of legit black redditors cause the things they say will get downvoted, which just adds to the whole "minstrel show".
Let’s be honest though, the bulk of your subs mods and users are white people posting things they think black people find humorous. I don’t doubt some of the users are edgy right leaning trolls, but the majority are probably not. Black people don’t post on Reddit really, and I’m not trying to pigeon hole an entire race, but Reddit just isn’t the “it” platform. As for the mods, there's 29 of us, 11-14 (that i know of) are black, including me, and a good amount are nonwhite. I know that may not seem good enough and the entire mod team should be black, according to some, but not a black people are interested in the sub so this is what we got.
The things that get posted to the sub is just the cream of the crop of the actual Black Twitter community on Twitter. Most of the posts are just things that end up viral cause most people can relate to it and the twitter poster happens to be black. The stuff you'd see on black twitter wouldn't fly on the sub, or reddit in general.

Personally, I am a proponent for Subreddits en masse automatically detecting anyone who participates in that community using bots and banning them.
That's how you quadruple your work load. You'll catch a lot of false positives, and modmail will be filled with people you gotta unban, and at 17.6 million subs, being one of the more consistently active subs on Reddit, that's a lot of work .
People comment on certain subs one time or two times to defend of themselves, to defend another sub, to try and correct some misinformation, and a bunch of other reasons, and automod or any other bot will ban them. I don't think there's a way to differentiate between regular participant and visitor. It's either all or none.
Then simply detect regular use of T_D, or keywords being used between people who are regular users of T_D.
It's not at all about banning conservatives, or supporters of Trump. It's about ridding Reddit of a specific subreddit that has a history of racism and violent users.

its been a rule since i got there. The previous version of the crime stats rule was in the form of an example comment, and i decided to reword it to make it simpler.
Literally none of the rule is new. I didn't write the original, we just reworded with more up to date things that we see often around the sub.
Im assuming it became part of the rule when everyone was copying and pasting stormfront stuff and posting it to the sub.

Yes, and I wouldn't call it "debate" lol. Especially right now with all the Kanye Trump tweets. /r/HHH and /r/Kanye are most likely going through the same thing.
Most of our locked threads are due to an influx of people coming in and just being either subtly anti-black or just outright. Anytime there's a post about Trump, BLM, any police shooting, or a general social/political problem black people face, these types of people come out the wood work.
Those who manage to not get caught will stick around and comment every now and then because the posts are enjoyable and its easy karma. They'll become somewhat regular users, then the next triggering post makes its rounds, and its as if they were sleeper agents.
People often complain about how the sub pretends to be black, but then do a 180 when posts about white people come up, but its really just a mix of /r/all /r/popular crowds. Non-mods can't tell the difference between users, but as a mod i can easily see a user's post history on our sub. Generally the top 5-10 posts on our front page have most likely been on /r/all or /r/popular, so its usually those top 5-10 posts which may seem like a shit show.
Most of our regular users understand, but its the rest of Reddit that doesn't and it seems like they all feel the need to be right and everyone else is wrong. The sub becomes pretty disheartening to a lot of legit black redditors cause the things they say will get downvoted, which just adds to the whole "minstrel show".

Let’s be honest though, the bulk of your subs mods and users are white people posting things they think black people find humorous. I don’t doubt some of the users are edgy right leaning trolls, but the majority are probably not. Black people don’t post on Reddit really, and I’m not trying to pigeon hole an entire race, but Reddit just isn’t the “it” platform. As for the mods, there's 29 of us, 11-14 (that i know of) are black, including me, and a good amount are nonwhite. I know that may not seem good enough and the entire mod team should be black, according to some, but not a black people are interested in the sub so this is what we got.
The things that get posted to the sub is just the cream of the crop of the actual Black Twitter community on Twitter. Most of the posts are just things that end up viral cause most people can relate to it and the twitter poster happens to be black. The stuff you'd see on black twitter wouldn't fly on the sub, or reddit in general.

We don't, or at least i dont. Its against the rules to assume someone is white, but i haven't seen anyone get banned for it. If a mod does decide to ban for it, they have to be saying something more. At most we remove the comment.
We have a rule against it because its low effort (everyone already knows most of Reddit is white, so depending on context, it adds nothing to the discussion), most low effort posts/comments get removed. Also because there are actually a lot of people of different backgrounds on the sub, and to brush their opinion off as some white kid pretending is just rude and unwelcoming.

That's how you quadruple your work load. You'll catch a lot of false positives, and modmail will be filled with people you gotta unban, and at 17.6 million subs, being one of the more consistently active subs on Reddit, that's a lot of work .
People comment on certain subs one time or two times to defend of themselves, to defend another sub, to try and correct some misinformation, and a bunch of other reasons, and automod or any other bot will ban them. I don't think there's a way to differentiate between regular participant and visitor. It's either all or none.
