Airlines work on very thin margins. They go through boom or bust periods where costs are higher or lower depending on what they're up to so it doesn't appear that way at a glance but if you take an average of their profits over 20 years it quickly becomes apparent they really aren't making a lot of money relative to what they spend.
Sitting next to a large person on a plane can not be fun especially when they are taking up some of you allocated space that you paid for
One way to fix this is to have a frame made just like they have for hand luggage if a person can’t fit into they have two choices don’t fly or pay for a extra seat
