The whole hubbub about it is transparently partisan anyway. If the person in question was Trump's wife instead of Biden's, these same rightoids would be falling over themselves to call her "Dr." while liberals would be dismissing her claim to the title instead. Just the same old attempted dunking on the other team.

Of course it is, because the complaint is that they're calling some mediocre community college professor "Doctor" after referring to Ben Carson, who was a pioneer in the field of neurosurgery, as "Mister." It's a partisan complaint about the complete lack of objectivity in the media and media's failure to acknowledge it.
So...what was her dissertation about? The author rips it up without saying what it is lmao
Edit, found it:
Student retention at the community college : meeting students' needs
Abstract:
This Executive Position Paper (EPP) studies student retention in the community college and Delaware Technical & Community College in particular. The paper focuses on four areas of students' needs: academic, psychological, social, and physical. An overview of the paper is given, and an introduction to Delaware Technical & Community College is presented. First, the nature of the pre-tech (developmental) population is discussed. Then, a literature review offers current research by experts in the field. In addition, the results from pre-tech students, faculty, and advisor surveys and interviews are analyzed. Statistical information underscores the problem of retaining students, and personal accounts from students provide insight as to why students drop out. Overall, problem areas are identified, and recommendations and solutions are offered and encouraged.
Any good clips from the twitter autists with enough time to dig through it?
”As for the contents of the dissertation, which she cobbled together from a few secondary sources and some vapid interviews and questionnaires she sent around at the campus where she worked before her husband became vice president, Delaware Technical Community College, I’ll go over them in detail in my next column.”
Check back next week I guess.
Normally I’d hate that but in this case I can’t wait.
How did I miss the author of the original op ed was named Joseph Epstein?
Some good ones in there. I did my JD long paper over the course of approximately three days and got an A- on it, that edds can pull off similar things is not shocking and if it is, you have too high an opinion of higher education.
The year is 2021, and Internet trolls can name all the Supreme Court Justices, and know more about the Vice President's wife's dissertation than she does.
It must suck to be Kyle Smith, this guy's been working his ass off for decades to be a famous conservative talking head but he's never been able to break into any mainstream fame. He makes better content than most other rightoids, too.
There's too much good invective there. The guy doesn't pull any punches when it comes to rhetoric, and that won't get you much popular fame. That's why we hear little about H. L. Mencken, even though he could blow up the world with the tip of his tongue.
If you ever run into an academic who isnt a medical doctor who insists on being addressed as doctor, never listen to or bother reading anything they have to say. I can't stand those people, they never have anything worthwhile to say, unless it's about themselves.

Summary of twitter commentary on the subject:
No attempt to refute this very based and very correct article.

That is a refutation. Don’t normalize the national review

Granted it hasn't been the same without Bill Buckley socking marxist queers in their goddamn mouths

Yeah, it's hard to decide what is worse, NR or CNN. Although given how CNN has been acting recently...

I did almost my entire dissertation proposal in about 3 or 4 days, and successfully presented it/passed the oral quals.
Though, I do not recommend.

Sooo is the Ed.D to a PhD like the JD is to being a licensed attorney?
3 -holier-than-mao- 2020-12-17
If you are a JD without a bar license, you’re a glorified political science major and should be shipped to Papa Xi’s iPhone mines.

That's what I've heard from lawyers. lol
