Bandai Namco Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada in a recent discussion on the latest game, Tekken 8, he “””openly admitted”””” that staff had snuck behind his back to add in boob jiggle to the game.

Harada's words in detail:

In Tekken Project, there's a team responsible for creating backgrounds and battlefields.

Somehow they keep wanting to add aliens and UFOs since a long time ago. I'm sure those really into the series will know. There have been aliens in the background, since Tekken 5. It happens even when I tell them to stop. They're adding it into the background without my permission.

Now in some other fighting games, they move quite a lot, but we consider ourselves a tight, serious fighting game. When I say ‘tight', I mean literally our breasts don't move. I'm guessing the modeler and programmers added that silently behind my back. (…) I mean, it adds to the realism, so I'm fine with it, but… the team is full of people who do stuff like that even when I tell them not to.

In a set of tweets over his birthday, which happened to coincide with that of The King of Fighters series protagonist Kusanagi Kyo, The King of Fighters '94 graphics director Kodama Mitsuo talked about how fujoshi turned out to be the saving grace of SNK's fighting game series.

According to Kodama, at the time, KOF'94 was in a perilous state and in danger of being canceled, with internal reviews giving low scores. Even Kodama, who feels that his baseless confidence is his forte, was on the verge of giving up until the day of location testing in arcades, where groups of fujoshi were seen giggling and making a commotion around the arcade cabinets. The staff huddled together and felt that a miracle might just happen – giving a much-needed boost of confidence that helped the game out the door.

In a second tweet, Kodama gave thanks to all the people who played KOF'94, saying that the game was a title that he helped make while feeling that he had to push through alone on the project.

KOF isn't the only thing that was unintentionally saved by fujoshi – in another well-known instance, fujoshi helped bring attention to the katana Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, which was left out of the public eye as it was part of a damaged museum collection after a disaster occurred. Another commonly-paraded example is the original Gundam, although in this case, more than a third of the show's audience were women.
