I agree with you that Israel funded the charity in an effort to weaken Fatah and to divide and conquer, and I agree with you that it was r-slurred and against Israeli and Palestinian interests (at least with the benefit of hindsight)

I don't think that's true. Most like either nothing would be different or another similar suicide cult would have gained power in it's place. Israel didn't brainwash 80% of palestinians to make them support Islamists over other alternatives, and that is the root of Hamas's power.
