Now that I look back on Evangelion, was Anno a paedophile? Why does a lot of anime shit unashamedly have p-do shit? Why does Japan not have a taboo for p-dophiles? Why is it somewhat socially acceptable there?

I dunno if he's a p-do but he's definitely a massive fricking creep. Have a look at this thread:

During EoE, Anno tried to force Asuka’s VA, shooting the live action scene, to wear only a T-shirt. No bra or panties just the shirt. She said no and her manager got involved. Anno even says “it’s for art” or some such. There is also a interview that talks about this and how he became obsessed with the VA to the point she feared for her safety.

I always hear degenerate stories from popular anime directors. Ruroni Kenshin guy being a massive p-do, Beserk creator being a creep/p-do etc.

It's like p-do and creep shit is an unspoken acceptance from anime fans all the way up to the top. Very uncomfortable, unironically, which is why I struggle to watch anime these days.

There's no doubt Anno had some creepy thing going on with the coom scene in Evangelion. They're meant to be teenage children.
