The people who are successful are either wealthy or they check DEI boxes. It's rare to have an easy life and have something artistic to say.

Sam Hyde made an interesting point about art. Basically that it comes from poverty, depression, and pain, and that normies who have their life under control don't have the same kind of creativity

A lot of people I know came from good supportive families, went to really good schools or even considered gifted... A lifetime of people calling them genius and saying how great they are. They never learned to deal with the kind of rejection that comes from being creative and actually getting good. Then they go full hipster with academic artistic standards... This is good because these people say so, etc.
You don't have to deal with mediocrity if you never actually test yourself... Just act like an enlightened critic.
Or I guess in this case, check all the proper boxes and do what the MBAs tell you. That's all art is anyway...

There's plenty of art and talent in America. The problem is that the ancient corporate boomers and their smoothbrained CalArts/Cooper Union grad Igorettes aren't interested in buying and distributing it. Go online and you see all kinds of creative, interesting people posting neat stuff between shifts at an auto body shop.

The only thing stronger than Nippon steel is anime merch sales

I've been told that there are IPs so commercialized that you could live off nothing but their merch, which sounds so fricking crazy to me because I can't think of a single film or a show or vidya properties that could allow you to do that. Maybe something like Star Wars or Mario could come close, but still, fully living off of merch? Probably not possible. And I double not get it because anime is mostly for Japan, which captures smaller audience and hence a smaller market for sales than something like the aforementioned Star Wars.
HOW DOES ANY OF THIS WORK? Are people really willing to buy anything as long as there is an anime girl attached to it? WHY???

It's not about making a product anyone would want to see, or even making a profit. It's pure cultural imperialism. Consciously or subconsciously, hollywood pedos see eastern media as a threat or an insult to their global dominance, so they flex by showing they can take beloved and popular IPs from Japan and then r*pe and mutilate them. It's basically like in olden days where bigger empires could flex on cultures they fricked by integrating their beliefs/myths into their own in an insulting way, like Christianity turning pagan icons into demons
