I'm surprised it's remained popular just cause of of the proto-incel stuff. Like all the themes and shit seem more "problematic" for the crowd that digs it than just the running trainspotting joke. I saw something else the author made afterwards and I think it mentioned non-binary or something, and it totally makes sense he went that route though.
