The anime was fine until it caught up to the manga, at which point it went from adapting three chapters per episode to adapting one chapter per episode. Stretching out 20 pages of manga into 22 minutes does not work at all, and generally involves a 3 min OP, a 5 min flashback, and then long hold after long hold to try and pad out the run time.

nah frick you, One Piece is good from the start because of the characters, gets very good when they get to the grand line because of worldbuilding, and goes SICKO MODE once they get to Water 7 and the deep lore comes in
