Getting tired of anime for a while now, it's a finished art form. Reading more nowadays.
Still I started some new shows this season:
Carrying on with Apothecary diaries, it seems like it's for foids but Maomao + chinx court intrigue + the pharmacology angle is pretty fun to watch.
Started gookshit Solo Leveling. It's barely average. Imagine a Korean manga derivative of already Jap derivative works. A whole new level of incestuous “””””art”””””” that crosses borders.
Then there's that is that Instant Kill isekai. I saw on /a/ that the main character is an OP unkillable Lovecraftian horror that is impossible to beat. Instead of a spookier version of One Punch Man, the silly japs have served up yet another gimmick isekai. There's functionally not that much difference from other ones. This show is trash.
Frieren in the grand scheme of things is a mid-fantasy story. But amongst the useless trash of the season, it (along with apothecary diaries) is what I remember to catch up with each week. We're in a fairly average tourney arc, but I like the characters so.. Btw, all the praise this show gets for examining the passage of time for a 2000+ being is overrated. Houseki No Kuni does it way better.
Mashle is below mid. A Harry Potter X typical Shounen Jump X OPM series should have been better than this.
I should rewatch Texh, or start the old+gold series like Kino's Journey, Giant Robo, Welcome to the NHK. After 10 years I still haven't started!!

It's barely average.
The story is not the draw for solo leveling. It's basically all style, and I'm glad A-1 agrees and is focusing on making it pretty
It looks average, it's really nothing special and so far, it's competently animated. One of the prettiest shows of the past couple of years would be something like Sonny Boy.
I did find the statues in the double dungeon ep a bit spooky tho.
Let me guess, every action scene is neighbors on rollerskates that Anime sloppa enjoyers go "HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE BEST SHIT EVER FSFSFSDFSDFSDFSDF" right?
It's more like it has a ton of separate (but serviceable) cuts in action scenes. It's not like the long MAPPA style Ice-skating scenes superimposed on a moving 3D background.
We're still in the early days, who knows - maybe the production will falter and we'll get more QUALITY-type animation

Fun totally unrelated fact, did you know Mappa made an anime called, "Yuri on Ice" in 2016 that was about gay men ice skating?

Lol I completely forgot about that, it was huge with the fujoshi-cels. Yep I watched it as it aired back in the day, not as gay as I hoped tho.
Yuri best boy.
