How do I explain to people that this is actually a severely emotional examination of grief, denial, what it means to be remembered and how to best confront your own mortality seriously how do I do that like go up to a friend all like "Hey man you should really check out 'If My Wife Became an Elementary School Student'"

Lol at the usual type of folks making superficial judgements and condemning something sight unseen without understanding it just so they can make sure everyone can see how much of a "correct opinion," they have. Get over yourselves.

Is Japanese as neurodivergent in Japanese as it is translated?

Checked with DeepL, seems to be.

The synopsis seems to be: The trials and tribulations of a single father, who one day meets the reincarnation of his deceased wife, who perished a decade before.

With how long anime titles are usually idk why they didn't just go with that as the title.

I meant the title - "If my wife becomes an elementary school student" is one of the most neurodivergent and uncomfortable things you could call the show. Does the Japanese flow right into that blunt weird message? Does Japanese flow like that to each other when they're speaking? Are we missing some synonyms and language structure that makes it a little better sound a little better to latin based ears? Or at the end of the day, is Japanese just a short, simplistic, neurodivergent language? Or is it just anime and there's some subsection of "normal" Japanese people absolutely embarrassed by the toddler phrased culture?

I saw a real Japanese movie once that made the Japanese seem real, but it was by a Spanish guy.

I dont really speak japanese at all, but based on my 10,000 hours of being a weeb, the title does sound better in Japanese.

Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru

I think its because Japanese lacks pronouns (they're always implied) so literal translation is "wife, becomes primary student" which is a lot shorter than the transliteration.

I think its because Japanese lacks pronouns

Ok, some stuff is making sense, but I also think that might ironically make them more neurodivergent.

>toddler phrased

I think you've accidentally hit the nail on the head. I imagine the author intentionally picked words and sentence structure an elementary student would recognize written down.

>妻、小学生になる。

It does flow better in Japanese, but it is a simple sentence.
