How do I explain to people that this is actually a severely emotional examination of grief, denial, what it means to be remembered and how to best confront your own mortality seriously how do I do that like go up to a friend all like "Hey man you should really check out 'If My Wife Became an Elementary School Student'"

I have refused to watch this since it first aired because we all agreed at school the next day it was so implausible that a mere three B'Rel-class scouts piloted by Ferengis could have taken down the Enterprise so easily.
Of course the real reason is we were watching Star Trek because we were very grown up and had no time for kids.
I still do distinctly remember that conversation and the anger though. The writers were playing with Star Trek like it was a mere child's toy!
