Hunter x Hunter starts out the same as One Piece and every other garbage shonen but evolves into a much smarter and more nuanced shonen by the end of it

One Piece, DBZ, and Bleach would NEVER have the balls to just write out Luffy/Goku/Ichigo as the main character like HxH does with Gon

One Piece is literally the boldest story in the medium, it's just framed as fun and carefree because the actual meat of the story and setting is so incendiary and relevant to the real world it would risk it's existence.

This is why Oda is a genius author. The slow burn he's done is going to save the world.

don't care about the other two, but that's because Luffy is literally HIM. He is One Piece Jesus and the most fun character (besides Buggy).
