I was incredibly optimistic about humanity's future in the early 1990s.
The Iron Curtain had miraculously fallen with barely a shot fired, environmental issues were starting to be talked about on a global level, computer networking was bringing people together and broadening minds, and the native peoples of South Africa had thrown off the yoke of their colonial oppressors, hearkening in a new golden age.
How could things not get even better from there???
