Its simple: one's obsession is arguably born from love and care (kagome saved his life right?) and the other is a sick frick old man who has a harem featuring two girls groomed from childhood, literally worshipped the panties of le 500 year old loli, and cannot stop talking about how much of his shit is borne from lust over love. Much easier to forgive one than the other.
