The fact that they have big eyes and blonde hair is usually enough of an indicator that they're not actually Asian.

Anime "people" rarely have asian hair color because black hair normally doesn't handle detail well with the way manga is drawn. And when adapting a manga or inking color in one, adding black has the same issues so other ones are chosen. Plus, if you've got a bigger cast multiple colors helps quickly distinguish people.
