Western influence in Asia has peaked. It cannot grow any further.

ASEAN is its own entity with Indonesia at the center.

India is its own entity that values its independence.

China cannot be westernize as its too big to be westernized.

Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan already fall under the western sphere of influence.

Russia is not part of the west any longer and falls completely under Chinese influence.

The middle east is already under western influence.

Every remaining place in Asia is too big or too far for the West to influence.

In conclusion. Western influence in Asia has peaked.

ASEAN is about trade. Those countries have no interest in deeper ties beyond that.

Every remaining place in Asia is too big or too far for the West to influence.

I think it might be possible for Burma to flip for example. If the rebels overthrow the government (which is not unlikely these days) who knows if they will turn out to be pro China, pro USA, or something else.

Most civil wars in current year are decade long conflicts. There will be no flipping any time soon in any direction.

In Burma it's already been going on for about 60 years, and the rebels have gained a lot of ground recently.
