I will never forgive humans from 100,000 years ago for not domesticating bears the way we did with wolves. We could have had the bear equivalent of the springer spaniel by now. I feel fricking robbed.

I suspect the problem was simply that mammoth weren't in the areas hosting civilisations that domesticated. Cows, goats, and sheep are a product of the green Sahara period
