Daily Bard Digest 2024-09-14

Live feed of the best moderator on the internet, straight into your veins.

Here's todays official post from the BARDCHIVE:

06/18/23 20:29:21 with a score of -28: https://old.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/14czfqx/rvideos_after_dark_sub_changes_zazu_and_the/jonj141/?context=8

To the people coming here to sneer at the moderators of /r/videos:

Did you know that you — yes, you — can make your own subreddit? With your own mod team, your own bots, your own rules, your own audience —?

I mean, if a bunch of absolute children can make a 30 million subscriber subreddit, you can certainly do 250k, right?

Everyone gets to be a mod! You, too, can have the experience of dealing with trolls and Reddit admins! All for the reward of other people having a giggle

Communities and people that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.

Marginalized or vulnerable groups include, but are not limited to, groups based on their actual and perceived race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or disability. These include victims of a major violent event and their families.

While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect those who promote attacks of hate or who try to hide their hate in bad faith claims of discrimination.

What that means, in plain English:

Anyone aiding & abetting the terrorist incitement of violence targeting Haitian immigrants in Ohio, or any immigrants anywhere in the United States, are violating Reddit Sitewide Rules.

If they're using moderator privileges to enable a subreddit to be used to support this terrorism, they're violating the Reddit Moderator Code of Conduct.

Reddit needs to receive reports on posts and comments that violate the Sitewide Rules, to take action on them.

Reddit needs to receive Moderator Code of Conduct complaints on subreddits being used to platform hatred & violent extremism, to take action on them.

Reddit needs to hear from a diverse base of reddit users reporting in good faith to prioritise where to focus their Trust & Safety enforcement.

The Ideologically Motivated Violent Extremist speech recently platformed by the GOP candidates was originally sourced from a self-confessed conservative terrorist on Twitter, and / or a group of White Identity Extremists on 4chan.

This rhetoric clearly snd unambiguously violates Reddit Sitewide Rules, and Reddit needs to hold accountable those who are complicit in platforming it.

"How do we know this will work"

I helped run /r/AgainstHateSubreddits from 2019-present. We cycled that subreddit down in 2023 when Reddit adopted the Reddit Moderator Code of Conduct which holds subreddit operators accountable for the uses which they allow their subreddit to be put to. We cycled it down because Reddit finally has a full soup-to-nuts report flow for enforcing the sitewide rule against hatred and violent incitement.

We know that user reporting works.

The reasons for siting silicon foundries are entirely about how much the operator/owner can get taxes / waivers from the government, for manufacturing and for "contributing to employment and the local tax base".

You can't cut corners on the building construction - gravity doesn't ignore the mass of ovens and vehicles, so the concrete and steel have to be of equivalent quality no matter where the building is sited, and can often be manufactured offsite & transported.

All the equipment is manufactured by a small handful of dedicated manufacturers.

All the on-site management is getting paid a salary based on the operator's home country's standard of living, and labour is a negligible slice compared to the capital required for infrastructure.

That leaves tax breaks and writeoffs and etc as the deciding factor.

Israel is as "geographically sound" as Austin but subject to geopolitical upheaval. Unfortunately both are currently subject to increased likelihood of geopolitical upheaval. One has violent terrorists threatening to overthrow the government and destabilise the economic governance of the region, and the other is Israel.

Hey there, We have to remove this post, as we cannot have posts or comments about other subreddits.

Don't post to that subreddit, don't comment in that subreddit, don't vote in that subreddit, don't modmail that subreddit.

If you see violent threats or hate speech in that subreddit, just report it.

Otherwise do not engage

Your polling methodology leaves something to be desired. You likely have located any number of help-rejecting complainers, and Natalie did a video in which she explains and then explores help-rejecting complainers (among other dysfunctional personality features), Envy.

Which … logically and predictably, leads to help-rejecting complainers in the transgender community to fixate on her and on denouncing her.

But that doesn't mean that someone who criticises her work or actively dislikes her work is a dysfunctional personality, and there's plenty of dysfunctional personalities that claim to like her.

Don't use someone's like or dislike of ContraPoints or Natalie as a heuristic.

Some of the equipment has to handle extremely reactive oxidizers at high temperatures for extended periods of time. Some of it has to handle metal plasmas. Some extremely high vacuum. All of it at levels of cleanliness that surgery departments and the CDC envy.

And almost every step has to happen with as little vibration as possible. Especially the parts where they're having to take into account the wave phase of UV photons striking a surface in photolithography, like a quantum vibroscalpel.

So you can have a unit that's mounted on active mass damping that's mounted on massive concrete and the whole floor beneath it is just more active mass damping against seismic vibrations from outside the building.

I am certain you do not wish to argue that several years ago you assaulted me at Tanglewood Forest. Several of your fellow company members have chased me and thwapped me with Amtgard -legal boffer weapons on Company Road while I was making announcements on behalf of Kingdom Officers.
