It could be. I think a full consideration of this is worthwhile for /r/ModSupport.

I used PushShift to pull up the (Black woman) user's post & comment history in the subject subreddit.

I can sum it up as "Black woman who declined to write in White cultural casual register, gets consistently downmarseyd by audience of subreddit, then after observing this happening in one post, writes another post calling this behaviour out as an expression of racism, and then gets labelled as a racist by the subreddit operator — who then outsources a flattened, evidence-free, preferentially-framed narrative to this subreddit for moral support, where the audience here unquestioningly swallows the "black woman is being racist towards white people" bad faith claim of discrimination by that subreddit operator.

The result is all over this page in top-level comments and down here in this heavily downmarseyd sanity check.

She didn't use any slurs, she didn't platform any bigoted stereotypes, she didn't target anyone or any group for harassment, she just made the choice:

To speak up and call out the targeted mistreatment she was receiving, by an audience of a subreddit, acting in order to shove her visible personal identity out of public life on that sub.

She made herself loud and inconvenient to the audience and operator of that hometown subreddit.

And the operator conflated Loud Annoyed Confident Black Woman Calling Out White Privilege and Black Erasure with Anti-White Racism.

SWR1 states

While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect those who promote attacks of hate or who try to hide their hate in bad faith claims of discrimination.

So /u/TheYellowRose's argument is relevant and topical.

It's easy for white people to be afforded the benefit of the doubt when they claim — flatly, without proof or evidence — that they're being targeted by "Anti-White Racism", "Reverse Racism", etcetera.

It's an impossible struggle when black people say "hold on a minute" and are met with challenges and flat pushback and a deluge of downmarseys.

In a world where she got the support and treatment she deserved from moderators, this would never have made it in this form to this subreddit.

In a world where she got the protections of the Sitewide Rules once the OP here made this post, OP would have a dozen ModCoC complaints lodged against him. People would have stopped and asked for evidence, gotten a full accounting, and performed moderation, instead of uncritically buying the most-consistently-abused bad faith claim of discrimination racist dogwhistle prevalent in American culture today.

I opened a different post on this subreddit, typed out the above comment, accidentally navigated away, had to stop what I was doing to handle someone else's micromanagement emergency, navigated back, picked this post instead, wrote out exactly what I had previously typed, thinking to myself "Perfect, what I've always loved about this experience of Reddit in the browser is randomly losing the comments I am composing, it sure does suck when that happens, let's see, what was it, oh yeah, Quote > guest crlfcrlf That's Rich Lowry, Editor in Chief, National Review crlf Save there we go."

Turns out that the comment I thought I lost in the other post actually got saved there.

I've seen genuine expressions of "African-American person expresses racial animus towards Caucasian person". But not on Reddit.

I've seen genuine expressions of "African-American person expresses racial animus towards Caucasian person, from a position of power or privilege, producing a harm towards the Caucasian person".

But not on Reddit.

The woman who is the object (I could say "the topic" but this process has very much flattened and objectified her) of this post didn't platform racial animus. She didn't act from a position of power. She didn't exploit a structural phenomenon in which those in power use verbal assaults and offensive imagery to maintain their preferred position in the existing social order, nor did she exploit a structural phenomenon to gain power, or subvert power.

She just complained. She complained about being shoved out of public life and erased, and the moderation safeguards of the site failed her.

I am certain you do not wish to argue that several years ago you assaulted me at Tanglewood Forest. Several of your fellow company members have chased me and thwapped me with Amtgard -legal boffer weapons on Company Road while I was making announcements on behalf of Kingdom Officers.
