I'm talking about The Karpman Drama Triangle.

This entire thing is KotakuInAction staging their public production of "Ellen Pao Is A Corrupt Feminist SJW In League With SJW Moderators To Cleanse The Defaults Of G*mergate".

They cast You, the Public, as The Victims who are Being Kept In The Dark And Censored.

They cast Themselves as The Victims who are Being Censored.

They cast SJW FEMINIST MODERATORS as The Persecutors.

------ ask yourself this question:

WHAT ACTUAL REAL SOLUTION IS BEING PROPOSED FOR THIS SUPPOSED CENSORSHIP BY THE CONCERNED MOB?

Is it to make a subreddit where they can discuss things without censorship? Is it to make reasoned arguments about exactly where and how the moderation rules of the defaults are destroying actual vital discussion? Is it to point out where Pao has caused actual harm?

No. These things would be too much work. There'd be too much effort involved in running a subreddit, and attracting an audience, and tightening up a group of moderators, and establishing a governing body for the subreddit to ensure transparency and journ*listic credibility. Too much.

Instead — ah, instead:

We get shitty robotic voices reading a vague complaint about the CEO's spouse, that could just be put in motherfricking text, in order to skirt the rules of /r/videos by technically being a video.

There are no solutions offered. There is no action outlined. There is only the call:

"Let's raise awareness of this!".

Raise awareness of what? That these idiots keep toeing the line of the rules set by the people running subreddits? That they perpetuate their victimhood by purposefully breaking rules so they can claim they're being persecuted?

It's a giant G*merGate-as-victim psychodrama circlejerk.

There's also a technical problem with the hashing algorithm in the Bloom Filter implementation it uses; it has an order of magnitude more false positives (hash collisions) than it ought to have, so there are occasional accounts that are marked transphobic or trans friendly for no reason other than their account designation, when hashed, collided with an already present entry.

Because of the weakness of the hashing algorithm, it's also feasible to brute force / compute account names that collide on the desired table, giving them cover or infamy.

SE was useful but needs to be superseded by other methods
