/r/AgainstHateSubreddits existed for 4 years as "Debate and debunk hate groups". In 2019 I came on board, armed with a plan to get Reddit, advertisers, & app stores to understand that the hate groups were untenable.
9 months later, hate groups were banned across Reddit.

That wasn't by any debate. All we did was document and report. We made a herculean effort to excise the people who wanted to wrestle with the pigs. We followed Data & Society's Oxygen of Amplification white paper, and organised moderators & communities.

One of the things we absolutely learned - from behaviour, and often straight from their mouths - is that fascists want you to dance with them.
They want access to your audience, your friend networks, your family, to ride your reputation, to be lent unearned importance. They want access.
