The NY Times would not cover the study in Nature linking anti trans laws to suicide attempts in trans youth because it used the internet to recruit respondents through Trevor project.
Kinnon Mckinnon did his detrans research via reddit and gets a fawning profile. The bias is clear.

That's unfortunate. I detransitioned some number of years ago and I wish it was less stigmatized for us as a community to talk about these things. They wouldn't be able to weaponize it if the community wasn't afraid of talking about it.

That's not the case. What's relevant here is that /r/detrans is run by Gender Critical transphobes & KiwiFarms members who kept their hatred cloaked to survive Reddit's rule against hate, while continuing to platform disinfo about transition. (1/?)

There is an actual thriving supportive detransition community on Reddit - /r/actual_detrans, and the moderators there have had to stave off hordes of transphobes & trolls over the years. They discuss detransition openly there.

/r/detrans weaponised detransition disinfo by platforming people with deeply suspicious claims, such as the prolific contributor who claimed she was prescribed T - a controlled substance - without a physical, without being informed of masculinising effects such as MPB, etc

Her narrative literally was that she was briefly contacted by the prescriber by email and then prescribed T for a mood disorder.
The subreddit also had open transphobia 2018-2020.
They'll weaponise no matter how detransition is treated. It's a tactic. Flood the zone.

I am not sure how this is counter to anything that I said. I wish that we talked about it more as a community so it wouldn't be weaponized against us. If there were better sources from within our own community, misinformation campaigns would lose their steam.
