Any pundit, writer, commentor, etc who use the phrase "Identity Politics" are in fact bigots hiding their bigotry behind a bad faith whitewash rhetorical dodge.
These people believe that i.e. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's politics were "Identity Politics"

"Identity Politics" is their salonfahige term for the same things Christopher Rufo decries as Critical Race Theory & Diversity, Equity, Inclusion.
It is a tell that the speaker believes that there are two identities: Cishet White Christian Male, and "Political"

there are plenty of loudly selfloathing people (Gender Crits, as an example) who use it to mean "Us «normal» folks who are / ought to be exempt from hatred & oppression based on identity, VS Those Freaks Whose Identity Is Dangerous"
