My jaw hit the floor while reading this because while there are some kinda murky theories about how constitutional requirements apply to folks like SCOTUS Justices, this is arguably its clearest instruction: you CANNOT take a European title of nobility and be an officeholder in the US.

The Constitution makes ONE simple demand of officeholders. Like instructing Adam & Eve to lay off the fruit, the Framers said, "you may want a fancy European title but the nation's integrity demands you refuse." Alito just ignored the Constitution's command.

I hate to be that b-word, especially when it makes Alito look even worse, but a knighthood almost always isn't a title of nobility (I can't quite work out what system this knighthood is supposed to be under, but I think it's the French)
