I for one have had enough of how many vocal members of the online trans community feel obligated to constantly pretend democrats suck on our issues.
Democrats are the most pro-trans major party in the world. They have literally never thrown us under the bus.

There are transphobic positions from Democratic politicians even today, and the party had "ew cooties" reactions to LGBTQ rights as recently as the 1990's, but they presently mostly have a clear view of an equitable future for us.

Here in Texas, Shawn Thierry, who premised her switch to the GOP on her transphobia. There's another in Kansas, Nancy Boyda. They're not party officials, though, and they're not being welcomed for their views. If I were perverse I'd name Tulsi, too, but she's been known a plant for a while

At a national, POTUS election level, the other parties are mostly insignificant except as potential spoilers pulling potential voters away from one (or both) of the Democratic & Republican party candidates. Earthquake-grade shifts would have to occur to change that.

(And I always feel like "as recently as the 90s" is a strange way of making that argument. Yes? Three decades ago, when the culture was completely different on LGBT issues, and being too pro- LGBT was political suicide, the democrats weren't as good on it. So?)

There's a difference between the Southern Strategy Realignment, vs 2004 Barack Obama "Marriage Is Between A Man & A Woman; Gays can have Separate but Equal".
Thankfully Democratic politicians can largely be persuaded on facts & law & a value of equality. Few GOP can be.

Democrats change as the culture changes. As society becomes more tolerant on an issue, the Democratic Party tends to track it.
So, in 2004, society was still wrestling with gay acceptance, and that was reflected in Democratic positions.

I don't recall if she left inna huff or if she was kicked. If transphobia were a major wedge issue in 2020 or 2022 I'd know better who planked where, but this year it's "either Harris & Walz win or I literally have to seek asylum abroad".

I helped pressure Reddit to adopt the rule against hate speech, which banned The_Donald & its satellites, & suppresses GOP hate speech on the site in this campaign. And so there's been mountains of harassment & death threats.
