I called 1-2 years max, and we're at ~18 months with Google telling us they will kill off Scholar to push AI that works worse.

This is so wild to me, as a netLibrary veteran and occasional quant text analyst. Computers are very good at indexing, searching, and descriptive analysis. They're not good at inferring meaning and can't "think." Surely someone at Google knows this.
