probably only used that key once so releasing to

>prove authorship

makes sense, making u dumber than bardfinn

No it fricking doesnt. He proves authorship by releasing it on his account. It doesn't prove the account is real because thekeys don'tconnect to anything else. He can't sign things later to prove it's him because he is going to release both keys.

If he wanted to sign it to prove anything he'd sign with his private key so you could verify with the public key and he would only release the encrypted text when it is time to drop the deets.

Congrats youre as stupid as bardfinn.

Edit: clarification he released the public key in his post and is going to release the private key as well. He's releasing both keys.

prove he wrote it later dumb dumb. you can't read it at all now

Why does he need to prove he wrote it earlier? He's claiming it's a dead man's switch not a humble brag that he had advanced knowledge.

And fine he wants to brag about his knowledge. He should hold off on releasing the public keys. The message encrypted with private keys would act as a signature.

idk

That's what I'm saying. The way he's doing it doesn't make sense. He just wanted a big wall of encrypted text and to post a key because of how cool that would look to r-slurs.

I guess the idea is that the content is more relevant if he can prove that he knew it now rather than later.

Why would that be the case? Idk.

But there's no reason to post the public key then. Just leave the wall of text encrypte by the private key with a note that you'll release the public key if shit hits the fan.

The way he did it shows a core misunderstanding of the point of paired keys and prevents him from using the private key in the future to prove his identity.

Also the private key signature on the post proves nothing to no one. It's literally just him showing off the features in as many ways as possible whether they make sense or not. Signing future posts would at least prove they're the same author as the previous posts but he loses that ability the second he releases the private key which is the point he'd need to start verifying his identity

i say this as a feminist ally - maybe his :marseybigbrain: play is that his encrypted message that needs to get decrypted with another public key

but if that's what he's doing for whatever reason it works (makes sense)

>he's not doing it properly :marseyraging:

who cares

he released the encryption key. anyone could encrypt anything with it now so it proves exactly nothing.

the way pgp works is u release the encryption key publicly... so when people send u encrypted msgs only u can decrypt them with the privately held key.

u don't release and encrypted message then post the encryption key ... to later post the private key for decryption.

if ever u wanted to do that ... u just post the encrypted message... and post the decryption key later. posting the encryption key along with the encrypted message is literally useless and demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding of what's going on.

The public/encryption key is released. You could encrypt "BIPOCs tongue my anus", spam it on reddit, and there's no cryptographic difference between the two when it comes to proof of ownership.

except that would be under ur name and he only cares about this one message

If your proof relies on trusting the reddit username system, what does PGP add?

There's no crypto proof whatsoever that it wasn't posted by some third party and both me and bardy are copying the dumbass who initially released the encryption key. The whole encryption angle is a meaningless LARP.

ur getting hung up on the pgp bit. bit neurodivergent. all he wants to do is post something now and potentially make it available at a later date. you fricking around with the public key changes nothing. him reusing someone else's key makes zero sense
