Ms. Penny Oaken, SkyWitch (@skywitches.net):

It's important to organise to block hatred, harassment, toxicity.

Hate leaders can instigate a harassment flashmob that overwhelms the ability of any one person to handle.

They can also automate.

It will be necessary to delegate to volunteers running blocklists & labelers.

That's just math.

Ms. Penny Oaken, SkyWitch (@skywitches.net):

To be able to trust a blocklist or labeler service, there needs to be a way to identify a Stakeholder or Trustee — a person with a reputation in a community, who can field advice, criticism, feedback, and most importantly —

We all make mistakes sometimes - and we all can change.

Ms. Penny Oaken, SkyWitch (@skywitches.net):

People don't have to stay bigots their entire lives, & blocklists exist to counter & prevent Reasonably Expected Behaviours.

People maintaining blocklists can make mistakes in adding accounts, too.

So appeals to being on the ban list or labeler are an important feature, for trust & trustability.

Ms. Penny Oaken, SkyWitch (@skywitches.net):

The Santa Clara Principles are a set of standards for transparency & accountability in content moderating — a blocklist maintainer or labeler operator should make a public commitment to following (as best as possible) the framework of the Santa Clara Principles.
