I used to have a fishtank where I kept some guppies from a nearby creek. One day I noticed there was a snail. Then there were a few snails. Then there were thousands of snails and I stopped having a fishtank.

I have a bottle of water and algae I sealed up about 7 years ago that has had about 100 generations of snails still going strong with sunshine bring the only input. I put some aquarium gravel in a bucket with a bleach mixture for a week and some snails still made it through. Aquatic snails will outlive cockroaches
