The original pitbull was bred for bloodsports, but that was mainly against livestock. Also the owner was supposed to be in the ring with the dog and you were supposed to be able to grab them at any point during the fight. Sadly, many of the ghetto shitbulls have been bred to be mean by people who don't realize a friendly mastiff is still fricking terrifying and a calm dog is far better for guardinf than a psycho one.

in the UK they tracked a huge portion of dog bites back to the same bloodline of XL Pitbulls that came from a prolific black market breeder, who purposefully made them more dangerous, XL was designed to be less dangerous originally but you cant trust breeds in the open market

Dog breeding is, quite frankly, a hellscape. Look up what they've done to German shepherds and Dalmatians.
