They're funny with who they enjoy bullying! I put the fear of god into Sheila early on, but mister man gets attacked when he plays with her belly. Meanwhile she loves chest rubs from me

She a feral we rescued from a life of incest on a farm. We had to take her away from her litter a little bit too soon out of fear of never being able to catch her.

Basically I don't think she ever learned how to 'play bite', she full sends it every time. Also refuses to back down, doesn't matter what happens she comes back for more, feisty little fricker.

I use one of those arm protectors for dog training when I play with her cause otherwise it probably means stitches.

Good news is all the cats on that farm are now spayed/neutered bad news is that all her siblings are dead

I would have recommended the cat guy on YouTube for retraining ferals, Jackson Galaxy or whatever? My girl socks is 6 this year. ASPCA adopted her out to me without warning me she was violent, and with fake papers. So vaccinations had to be done in arrears only after a vet noticed that these idiots literally left spots blank in her info. She would attack my throat at night. I trained her into a good girl using a soft carrier and hours of patient retraining

Hmm might have to look at those videos. Honestly she has already improved lots, she no longer ambushes me to maul it's actually playful now.

I just can't overstimulate her or the gremlin comes out. I have learned her particular flavor of autism, she only really wants to be pet when she comes for attention or on top of 2 specific floor mats.

Also hard to be annoyed at this little face

I understand wanting nothing but comfort for your babies. These trust exercises cause the cat to associate you with freedom and comfort using the carrier as the "bad cop" to deflect bad feelings. It sounds silly but it is truly reliable. I thought I'd have to put Sheila through similar practices but shes simply an angel

I fear it would just be impossible to get her in the carrier. When she was having health issues it was actually a problem because even with me and 3 vet techs attempting to hold her down it was impossible to do any kind of examination. So she had to be put asleep pretty much every time which isn't great for anyone. Time before that a vet tech had to get stitches on his arm

Only way to get her in that carrier is to put her blanket and a treat in it and wait for her to go in it herself.

I also kind of feel like it would only be for our benefit to try and train her. She doesn't really hurt anyone badly unless you annoy her. Also she's quite social and hates being alone. Just doesn't enjoy being held and not much of a cuddle buddy. Overall she seems quite happy

She has also mellowed out a lot with age and I think she will continue to do so on her own pace :marseyjam:

Besides if I want to cuddle I just go over to the other house and pick up my orange buddy. Nothing he likes more than being held and drooling on my shoulder. Literally has not once gotten tired of it before I did :#marseyheart:

Awww sweet babies! I'm surprised your vet hasnt given you a bottle of liquid gabapentin for rough car travel. Sheilas still got a little for emergencies left from her surgery, but most vets are understanding about pet travel anxiety. It may be worth asking about the meds for vet visits.

I hear you- nature is best left at its own pace. I do encourage increased playtime with toys to help bond you with your cats and keep them fit. Its been hard for me to remember to keep that up with my domestic cats recently.
