response to a @Rad_juju cat pic
Sasha I got when she was very young with the idea that we (whenever it's "we" with an animal it ends up being mine, this has happened like 4 times at least) would train her not to be the smartest cat ever, but the best integrated with humanity. So I paid lots of attention to her as a kitten. I mean lots. Down to the point where I'm holding her and she's on the street using this altitude advantage to scan for other cats, she gives me cues with her neck which way to turn around. To scan more nonexistent rival female cats nearby.
Typical story: The cat trained me. The rival cats never showed up. She always wanted me to pet her while she ate like a little baby. But when I tried to take the dog for a walk she would follow us. She was the queen of the house now. Black Cat starts following us too.
She swears that everyone is okay with you opening the gate.
I want to take a walk, the dog needs her walk so I take her. Sasha is dashing through the suburban front lawns trying to flush out any NVA (yeah, I've told her, in the 2010s the Viet Cong doesn't really exist in Oregon suburbs). I keep trying to tell her that the Oregon sector is pretty quiet but she is so hardcore against communism you can't even talk to her. Then Black Cat shows up and volunteers his services. Well that's great you little bastard, what are you... and he starts dashing through the front yards of the left lawn.
Now this might have ended up differently if she spoke up but Sasha doesn't like to be loud. I get it. And she taught Black Cat not to be whiny on patrol even though he was a whiny b-word at home.
The adult in the room.
But it turned out into this thing like the ending Buckaroo Banzai.
After we get to the end of the block though, it's pretty clear. Our commanding officer has ordered us home. This patrol is over.
We reach home. The cats are enormously grateful that I brought this moronic dog child home in one piece. The dog says to me "Okay we did the walk, so we're going to start really playing now!"
