they'll generally go for what's easiest - on the whole they are symbiotic, but won't hesitate to like blood during dry months, and change from symbiotic to parasitic

additionally very old animals like old elephants, or rhinos, which have even small sores or cuts, can have their wounds exaserbated, when in their final months they barely have the strength to pull the birds away
