They're kind of like rodents, mustelids, and possums but they're their own thing that are more closely related to elephants. Convergent evolution is crazy. Most live in Africa but some are in the Middle East too.
Baby hyraxes playing:
They also have a complex digestive system that's a little bit like ungulates, watch them chew:
Gay-butt eagles get totally cockblocked by their special powers.
Mammals rule!
EDIT: Goddammit, I specifically lobbied to get the "don't notify followers" option reinstated so that I could post something like this and only have small mammal enthusiasts see it but I forgot until about 3 seconds after I posted.

@MrPenny @MenAreWorst frickers only eat the yellow not the white lmao
I suppose its a good symbiosis with the gymrats eating just the white though

I thought taking away the hay feeder thingy would stop her from climbing to the top, but when I left for a while and came back there she was on top of the cage
The only way I can imagine how she did that was that she squeezed into the tiny space between the cage and the fence and wall climbed or something, I was wondering why she kept going to that tiny space to get herself squeezed these past few days
I hope she doesn't accidentally one day

The neighbors won't stop giving him peanuts and he buries them in the potted plants on my patio which wrecks the potting soil and gets dirt everywhere. I don't know if this is normal chinchilla behavior but I think if he gets fatshamed enough he'll go back to eating berries or pumpkin seeds or whatever the frick chinchillas eat.

Chinchilla tax aside first:
So the BIPOC chin has figured out how to climb up to my head by herself It does bring back memories of the mayo chin because he had a knack of climbing up to our heads so that was quite nice.
I guess she was trying to find a way to the chinchilla treats at the top of the cage because soon after I left her on her own I heard things drop and saw her at the top of the cage which was quite horrifying
I'm still wondering how she managed to do so on her own accord but this would be my best guess:

Apologies for the mess and poop, they shit a lot Frankly it's a relief to see her poop now, because after the mayo chin died she was barely pooping for hours at a time which was pretty scary, especially since they would leave a poop or two each time they jump onto my lap or something (probably to assert dominance )
Luckily she was still able to eat so I fed her using a syringe this past few days in case she wasn't getting enough nutrients or ate something she wasn't supposed to, so hopefully she's fine now and will be for a long time
Time to go clean it up (very willingly) for free
