Wrong r-slur the EEC was an entirely economic union. Its an entirely different organisation. Not a continuation. Dramatards are all mega r-slurred today.

From the EU's own website. They certainly seem to think that the EU is a continuation of the EEC. The EU was formed via the Maastricht Treaty in 1993, which was signed by all members of the EC, which the EU is the legal successor to. To argue that the EEC and the EU are entirely different is so incredibly smoothbrained I don't even have the words to describe it.
The EU was founded in 93 period. Thats the whole point here. Im not arguing they are entirely different im saying the EU is also a poltical organ which the EEC wasn't which is the only fricking relevant aspect here since its the EU's political organs regulating the Apple shit. So dont tell me "they technically existed since the EEC" its ebtirely irrelevant to the discussion.

Yeah obviously I'm not going to claim that the EU wasn't founded in 93, I'm not an r-slur. But I didn't say that the EU "technically existed since the EEC", I was explicitly saying that the EU was founded with the Maastricht Treaty, which merged the EEC, ESCS, and Euratom into the EU. However, you'd be wrong to say that the EEC was entirely economic - it was always used for political and geopolitical purposes. Here's Yes Minister making fun of this fact in 1980

It's not irrelevant though, because the EEC did take political decisions (the European parliament was formed in the 50s) so it's misleading to imply that the EU could only start passing this sort of regulation in 93, when in reality they were regulating the shit out of everything for decades prior to that

But the EU is really just a continuation of the EEC, which was founded in 1957
