Corporal punishment is an unappetizing but it's ability to be done as the situation demands it is an absolutely necessity. People who are unwilling to have it done properly are only fearing that it may work, and that other crabs may be spared from remaining in their bucket of dysfunction.

People who are unwilling to have it done properly

Is beating a kid properly going to be part of obtaining a teaching license?

You wouldn’t think it would have to be a full training thing to tell them to use a moderate force to rap their knuckles or whatever, but this a profession where the teachers had to be explicitly legislated away from showing pornography to primary students. So yes probably worth a class to understand why corporal punishment is an effective tool, what situations to apply it, and how to do it properly.

I'm not sure what you mean by "beating a kid properly." If you're asking if I think physical punishment is ever appropriate, the answer is no. If you're asking if I think teachers should be allowed to physically punish students, the answer is also no. There is never an excuse for hitting a child, and anyone who thinks otherwise is not fit to be a teacher.
