Dramaposting and Christianity

Fellow !christians - how do you view your use of rDrama?

During a recent sermon my pastor quoted some verses and they seem to directly attack :"grumblerss" and malcontents (dramatards).

Jude 1:16 (ESV)

These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage

Philippians 4:8 (ESV)

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Proverbs 4:23 (ESV)

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

This is the most notable verse however:

Titus 3:10-11

As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

It is not what goes into us that defiles us, but what comes out of us. The question is whether dwelling on drama makes us worse people in real life. The answer to that might vary from person to person, and it might vary from time to time as well.

Exposure to the worst or dumbest of humanity can be fun or at least enlightening. Focusing on the dark side of humanity gives me a greater appreciation for those times when people do go beyond their fallen nature, only possible by the grace of God. If I believed humanity was basically good, I would be angry every time other people fail. Since I believe humanity is basically bad, I can be pleasantly surprised when others do good. All the people we make fun of are not so different from us (and we make fun of ourselves too). We're all in the same boat.

There's a decent sense of comaraderie here, and I feel like I have "real" discussions here far more than on other websites. Despite certain circlejerk topics, I also feel like this is one of the few places online where I see people who strongly disagree with each other meet on an even playing field without relying on swarm tactics or jannies to enforce a consensus.

With all that said, there are certain times where I get kind of pissed off at something on here. Just means it's time for a break.

You had a chance to not be completely worthless, but it looks like you threw it away. At least you're consistent.

This is not a position of the Catholic Church. For example, see CCC 2523:

There is a modesty of the feelings as well as of the body. It protests, for example, against the voyeuristic explorations of the human body in certain advertisements, or against the solicitations of certain media that go too far in the exhibition of intimate things.
