Have any of you skellies and fat fricks fasted for religious reasons? How long did you go for and with what schedule/restrictions? What was your experience?

I abstained from meat all through last Lent. I don't think I've fasted for more than a day. When I do fast, I don't eat at all--the standard advice about what's allowed on a fasting day (a full meal and two small meals) just sounds like a normal day of eating to me and I prefer the simpler rule.

(a full meal and two small meals)

Yeah that seems a little too easy. Some people will allow liquids other than water though

I don't eat meat on a Friday unless it's a Solemnity, just what my family's always done :marseyshrug:

Longest I've gone was a single week with just water a few Lents ago. It was painful on days 2/3 but generally easier after, with exception for the lightheadedness and dizziness.

I do a full day here and there when I eat nothing but water (and coffee if it's a weekday)

Old thread but gonna share how I do it:

No meat on any Friday of the year that isn't a church holiday or a very special holiday occasion.

No meat, sweets or junk food throughout Lent except for Sundays.

No meat, sweets or junk food throughout Advent except for Sundays.

No food of any kind on Good Friday.

No food of any kind on specific days the Pope calls to fast and pray for a cause (at the very least whenever I'm aware of them)

That's how I do it

Meat during Wednesday and Friday during lent mainly. I've done two days fasting before but I don't consider them notable because you can just ignore any hunger for such a short period.
