I did RCIA and got baptized/confirmed/first communion on the vigil this past Saturday.
RCIA focuses basic
history 
of Judaism/Christianity and on the sacraments rather than covering scripture in the sense that you're covering all the stories or reading 
through them all.
You have to read through scripture on your own time and contemplate it yourself
in your own time which most people refuse 
to do because it requires additional effort 
and a ton of time imo.
