Going to church right now, I'll make sure to keep our south african my prayers so he can return safetly.

At least as long as our organist from heck does not knock me unconcious with the cacophonic noise he relentlessly unsleashes upon churchgoers lately.

What do you mean? The Psalms are songs. Both Jews and Christians have traditionally included music in the liturgy. As funds and technology developed, organs became the norm in European cathedrals and then in churches. Throughout the millenia it went from Gregorian chanting to polyphony to more modern hymns.

Discovered on Elephantine, an island at the very southern border of ancient Egypt, the following fourth-century B.C.E. papyrus manuscript (P.Amherst 63) reveals that Yahweh was indeed seen as a music lover. Composed within the local Jewish community in Aramaic language but recorded in an Egyptian cursive script, it translates as follows: β€œDrink, Lord (YHWH), from the bounty of a thousand basins; be inebriated, Adonai, from the bounty of men. Musicians stand in attendance upon Lord (Mar): a player of the bass lyre (nevel), a player of the lyre (kinnor).”2

The "four hymn sandwich" (intro, offertory, Eucharist, exit) presentation of the Liturgy is however a much more recent development.

Here's a creepy sounding requiem composed by a French prodigy on her deathbed. :marseyanguished: Her Psalm arrangements are very pretty though.

I like the idea that because of his death, Jesus was ready to start his ministry. Also, respecting the mother of God by not having thoughts of having another kid with her.

The Tradition (which can be found in written form in the Protoevangelium of James https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_of_James) is that Mary was a consecrated Temple virgin from her infancy and had taken vows of lifelong celibacy prior to marriage. This is actually a feast day in Eastern Christian Churches: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presentation_of_Mary

The evidence of this practice can be found in Exodus 38:8 which mentions women who β€œwatch (צָבָא) at the door of the tabernacle”, 1 Samuel 2:22, and of course

And the virgins also that were shut up, came forth, some to {High Priest} Onias, and some to the walls, and others looked out of the windows. And all holding up their hands towards heaven, made supplication. (2 Macc 3:19-20)

This is further confirmed in the Mishnah:

β€œThe veil of the Temple was a palm-length in width. It was woven with seventy-two smooth stitches each made of twenty-four threads. The length was of forty cubits and the width of twenty cubits. Eighty-two virgins wove it. Two veils were made each year and three hundred priests were needed to carry it to the pool” (Mishna Shekalim 8, 5-6).

So fun fact for our !Christians who think it's a weird practice, Jews had cloistered consecrated virgins in the Temple. Nuns are a Biblical tradition, and the lifelong virginity of Mary is scriptural as well. The word used for the "brothers" of Christ (adelphoi) is also used for cousins in the Septuagint, and the oft mentioned "Mary was a virgin --until-- Christ was born" citation (heos hou) is similarly found in 2 Samuel 6:23

And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to (until) the day of her death.

All generations shall call her Blessed. Respect the Mother of God and the Holy Family. :marseyimmaculate: :marseyfatherjoseph: :marseyandjesus:

Exodus 38:8

He made the basin of brass, and its base of brass, out of the mirrors of the ministering women who ministered at the door of the tent of meeting.

1 Samuel 2:22

Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did to all Israel, and how that they lay with the women who served at the door of the tent of meeting.

2 Samuel 6:23

I have been unduly cruel to you in past interactions. I sincerely wish only the best for you and your family. I'm tired now but I will pray a rosary (20 minutes~ effort) specifically for your intentions tomorrow. If you have intentions to request beyond yourself and your family in a generic sense, I will include them if you respond.

He was the father who stepped up, ok?

Also this pretty much proves that God is black and Jesus was at least half black. He should have turned his blood into Hennessy.
