Imagine you're a social outcast and suffer from anxiety and other mental issues
You spend a lot of your time online. You find a community who finally welcomes you and accepts you. They tell you that the reason you don't fit in anywhere and have anxiety and depression is because you're a vampire.
Everything finally starts making sense to you. It's not your fault you're weird and aren't accepted by others. It's because you're a bloodsucker. The grooming gets deeper. You post on /h/vampire. Your relationship with this cult strengthens. You feel accepted and loved, something no one has ever given you. You contemplate turning into a bat and start watching Bram Stoker's Dracula like the vampire you really are. You still aren't accepted by others, your label as an outcast worsens, but it's okay. They're intolerant of who you really are. They're mind controlled by the !edgelords. They're the problem, it's never been you.
It's not a community. It's a cult. It's predatory. You start grooming others too. This is the only normal you know. Society is to blame.

Vampires have always been a fad, edgyness is an intergenerational phenomenon in humans youths.
Even more, edgyness can take many forms, it is actually the mechanism how humanity moves forward. Vampires was just one edgy subcategory/ outgrowth that failed. House Edgy is what should've been created from the start.
