Rdrama Book Club proposal and nominations thread :marseyreading:

Thoughts on having a rdrama weekly book club?

We could have a nomination thread to propose the books, then a voting thread with the most upvoted proposals from the previous thread to decide it. Just an idea, I’m not a janny so I don’t know how to create voting threads, maybe the /h/lit mods can do it.

Anyways, if this happens I nominate The Iliad. I read it last year, but is one of those books I would read again, no problem, and is so dramatic and probably very fun to discuss :marsey300:

One I haven’t read yet, but would like to nominate is Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, is short and looks interesting (literal bugman lmao).

I'm down, but I'm not reading The Iliad again. Book clubs work better when the book wasn't written before Jesus was born. How about a nice light romance novel or scifi thriller? We can drink wine and gab about it.

Unironically tho in light of Russias great success, I nominate a russian book: "The Master and Margarita"

mostly cuz I like the cover

Sounds like fun, I would do it. I would like to nominate the The Hedge Knight by George R.R. mainly because I am rereading asoiaf for the 5th time. Its also a shorter book and lighter which may be good to start off with.

I just finished a book on Stalingrad but I guess there's no more Russian civil war so it's not topical anymore. Working through "From Dawn to Decadence" by Barzun slowly. Also going through an ArcGIS book.

So we should read the "Description of Egypt" in its original French, or "The General in His Labyrinth" because I love Bolivar.

https://i.rdrama.net/images/16876433880589182.webp You shouldn't have put description of Egypt on the vote, it's about 500,000 pages and one of the longest single published items ever created.
