It's more fun when the models actually cooperate with you and have the agency to 'take the lead' and direct the story to interesting places itself, which is rare with the current tech we have but is improving constantly. Anthropic's Claude is a good model to look at for prose and agency at the moment, and fully uncensored and private local models are improving at a rapid pace
