I didn't really enjoy it, as far as dealings with the devil, I much preferred Master and Margarita. Faust didn't deserve the ending he got, didn't really like him as a character, Mephistopheles was alright and some of his tricks were fun.
Favorite parts were the introduction of Gretchen and Meph being like, "she just came from church, I literally can't influence her" and when her brother showed up and called her a whore.

I think is because books like Faust are more studied/known because of their stylistic writing style rather than plot, it was written in rhymed verse and has significance to the german language but for those looking for something more plot driven it will probably be a huge a drag.

I've noticed this for a couple different classics, which kinda sucks cause I want to be more well versed, but I just really prefer a story vs a statement.

I think it is an acquired taste, but it works better when you read the work in the original language (that's how you see the author's style, as poetry never translates well), which is unfortunate when we don't speak the author's language. Maybe focus more on English classics? I find Shakespeare quite entertaining and quotable.
