A Feast of Snakes by Harry Crews

Fantastic book and I'm only about finished with Part One but it captures the spirit of a dying Southern town. I'm from very close to the area in the story and this is one of the first books I can immediately recognize as being written by someone who is intimately familiar with spoken and unspoken customs of the South. Looked him up and he's from Alma, GA. Some of these characters feel too real to me.
