White people writing fantasy is so interesting to me because you could imagine ANYTHING and your worlds still have rape, incest, hierarchies, pillaging, pilfering, apparatuses of social control, land theft, taxes and abuse.

Again, you could write ANYTHING

Tbh I do prefer writoids to use some restraint. It's trivially easy to make bad things happen in text, you don't need to jump straight to cannibals and incest if you can imbue something less superficially shocking with the same weight.
That said, I've read plenty of BIPOC authored books that are just misery porn. One that stuck out to me a lot was "Parable of the Sower" by Octavia Butler because it's mostly just random dystopian violence, yet her novel about slavery had this admirable restraint (Kindred is light on beatings and much heavier on a paranoia and creeping dread)

Well the problem is when they use violence and evil to show that characters are bad, and not to show why the society and characters do the things they do. George RR Martin I think is one of the few writers who really gets this, through the books he rarely has characters do abject evil without reason or thought, in fact its pretty much just Gregor Clegane and maybe Vargo Hoat.
